The King's Philharmonic Wind Orchestra

The King’s Philharmonic Wind Orchestra is an auditioned ensemble based in Aberdeen and is open to all professionally-aspiring musicians. The full ensemble counts 42 players who present a challenging repertoire of opera and orchestral classics, wind orchestra originals, as well as premiers of commissioned compositions – here in Scotland, as well as on tour. The Orchestra is dedicated to provide young composers with the opportunity to write for a large wind ensemble, and to frequently work with emerging solo artists. After their inaugural tour through Scotland in 2017, a selection of players of The King’s were joined by friends from Aberdeen University Symphony Orchestra to present a winter concert »Abendmond« to celebrate the ensemble’s first anniversary.

Ensemble Workshop in February 2018 and Aberdeen Performance in March 2018; Orchestra course with a concert series in April 2018; London Ensemble Performance in November 2018; Joint Christmas Concert Series with University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir in Winter 2018 (tbc.)
